Chicago Fire goalkeeper Chris Brady is determined to break into the U.S. Men’s National Team starting lineup and feature in their World Cup opener against Paraguay on June 12 at SoFi Stadium despite making 0 appearance for the team.
Brady has been a key performer for Chicago Fire this season, but was named on the bench during recent U.S. matches against Portugal and Belgium.
Despite not yet earning a start, the 22-year-old remains confident in his chances.
“I want to make the final squad when the coaches make their selections,” Brady said. “Based on what I’ve done so far this season and if I keep it up I believe I can earn my place. That’s my goal, not just to make the squad, but to make an impact on the team.”
However, Brady faces stiff competition for the number one spot, with Matt Freese and Matt Turner also in contention. To secure a starting role, he will need to deliver consistently exceptional performances throughout the season
