Pulisic confident ahead of opener against Uruguy after Senegal win

USMNT Star Pulisic Eyes Big Impact at Home World Cup

by Russel Wiafe

USMNT star Christian Pulisic is brimming with confidence ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on home soil.

After scoring a goal and providing an assist in the team’s pre-tournament friendly against Senegal, the former Chelsea F.C. playmaker believes he is ready to help the United States make a strong impact at this year’s Mundial.

“I felt this confidence. I’ve played really well in recent months too, but all people seem to care about is goals,” Pulisic said. “So hopefully now people can stop talking about it. I feel good and obviously it was just a friendly.

“We’ve got big games ahead and I’ve got to be ready.”

The match was the first of two pre-World Cup friendlies for the U.S., who will face Germany on Saturday. The Americans open their World Cup campaign against Paraguay on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
