Spain completed an incredible campaign by beating Messi’s Argentina 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup final at New York New Jersey stadium.
Coach Luis de la Fuente side, entered the final in exceptional form. The reigning European champions extended their unbeaten streak to 38 matches.
Although Spain controlled much of the final, the match remained tense until the closing minutes. Argentina’s hopes took a significant blow when Enzo Fernández was shown a red card, forcing the defending champions to play with ten men.
Following the match, Luis de la Fuente praised his players for their composure but also acknowledged the resilience shown by their opponents.
“I think the game should have been decided earlier. Dibu (Emiliano Martínez) made several incredible saves that kept Argentina alive. But this was a World Cup final, and even with ten players at the end, you know you’re going to suffer.”
