Robert Lewandowski has officially joined Chicago Fire, ending months of speculation and giving the MLS club one of the biggest signings in its history.

The legendary 37-year-old Polish striker who has scored more than 700 career goals for club and country, arrives with the hope of transforming Chicago Fire into genuine title contenders.

With Chicago third in the Eastern Conference with 29 points from 14 matches. His goals, leadership, and winning mentality could provide the boost the Fire need as they push for their first silverware since 1998.

Chicago Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter revealed that the transfer had been in the works for much longer than many realized.

“It first came into the picture probably in January 2025,” Berhalter said. “And here we are, June of 2026, and we’re finally making the signing.”

Berhalter praised the club’s persistence throughout the lengthy negotiations.

“We’ve been persistent. We never lost contact with him, kept in touch with his representatives, and this was a move that everyone truly believed was a great opportunity—not only for Robert, but for the city of Chicago as well.”

Lewandowski attracted interest from clubs across Saudi Arabia and Europe, according to reports, but the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona forward chose to continue his career in the United States, believing MLS offered the right balance of competition, lifestyle, and a new challenge at this stage of his career.
